Garden Photos 2014

There was very little time for the garden in 2014.  No ambitious projects were undertaken and the garden was left to look after itself for long periods in July and August.

The Yew hedging has continued to establish well in the West Garden and the remaining Box edging and topiary has shown very little sign of Box Blight.  All Box pruning is now undertaken in winter.

The new Hornbeam hedge in the West garden, now in its second year, has also established well and I look forward to it providing a proper screen at last in 2015.  In fact, providing this winter remains kind, this year I hope to have the garden back to somewhere near its best ever version of 2010.

I did manage to get out with the camera a few times.  Please enjoy this slide show from May to September;

    Hi Maggie,
    I removed the blight damaged Box in 2010/11 and replaced it with young Yew hedging in autumn 2011. I used Taxus x media ‘Densiformis’ for the straight line and Taxus baccata ‘Repandens’ for the circle. They were planted 30cm (1 foot) apart.
